EV Strategy for Scotland’s Highlands and Islands
Urban Foresight today kicked off a new project to support the roll out of electric vehicles (EV) and supporting charging infrastructure in the highlands and islands of Scotland.
The contract has been awarded by HITRANS regional transport partnership.
“A key part of our work will be to collect and analyse data on the current charging network and numbers of electric vehicles across the region” explained Urban Foresight’s Andrew Willis. “We will also review policies around deployment, operation and maintenance of EV chargers and related areas such as promotion and marketing.”
The project will build on Urban Foresight’s expertise on the unique challenges and opportunities of supporting EV uptake in rural communities. This includes the Orkney’s Electric Future study and the G-Patra project which will be starting in October 2017. Insights will also be drawn from interviews and a workshop with key stakeholders in the region.
“The final deliverable will be an EV strategy and action plan for the HITRANS area that is tailored to the needs of individual local authority areas” said Andrew Willis. “We will also offer clear recommendations and prioritised actions to support the roll out of EVs.”
