Location: Dundee or Newcastle

Urban Foresight is the UK’s leading place-based innovation consultancy. 

We’re seeking a talented and motivated early career professional to join our consultancy team.  

This permanent role will be based in one of our offices (Dundee or Newcastle) in line with your preferences.    

The role 

You’ll be a key member of a team which delivers an exciting portfolio of projects related to economic development and regeneration.  

You’ll help write strategies and shape investments covering diverse sectors and geographies.

 Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Working with different teams and developing an understanding of several disciplines. 
  • Researching topics to find relevant information for projects, quickly understanding and identifying the issues of significance. 
  • Analysing numerical data to find answers to problems. 
  • Communicating findings effectively, both verbally within the team, and in written format for use in reports. 
  • Effective organisation of information and documentation. 
  • Communicating professionally and appropriately with external parties. 

Skills and experience 

We’re interested in candidates with ambition and intellectual curiosity. You might currently be: 

  • An early-career economic development consultant 
  • Working in a policy or delivery role in the public or third sector 
  • recent graduate looking for a career combining tangible impact with strategy, analysis, and policy research.  

The ideal candidate would have: 

  • Degree, preferably to Masters level, in a relevant subject. 
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to think logically and be methodical. 
  • Experience of working in a tight-knit team. 
  • Ability to use initiative but to know when to ask for help. 
  • Strong time management and organisational skills. 
  • IT proficiency, especially MS Office. 
  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn and to go that extra mile.
