Location: Dundee or Newcastle

Could you help shape a brighter future? 

We’re seeking a talented and motivated early career professional to join our consultancy team.  

This permanent role will be based in one of our offices (Dundee or Newcastle) in line with your preferences.    

The role 

You’ll be a key member of a team which delivers a diverse portfolio of projects related to place-based innovation. 

You’ll help write strategies and shape public policy for cities, regions and countries across the world, on a diverse range of topics including smart cities, net zero innovation, transforming health and social care services, and future transport systems.  

You’ll be responsible for: 

  • Working with different teams and developing an understanding of several disciplines. 
  • Researching topics to find relevant information for projects, quickly understanding and identifying the issues of significance. 
  • Analysing numerical data to find answers to problems. 
  • Communicating findings effectively, both verbally within the team, and in written format for use in reports. 
  • Effective organisation of information and documentation.
  • Communicating professionally and appropriately with external parties. 

Skills and experience

We’re interested in candidates with ambition, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to making places and public services better. You might currently be: 

  • An early-career management consultant, strategist or business analyst looking to work on projects which shape public services and achieve social good 
  • Working in a policy or delivery role in the public or third sector, and looking for a fast-paced environment applying your experience to a range of clients 
  • Working in politics, public affairs or communications and looking to work directly with local and national governments to define long-term strategy and write policy  
  • recent graduate looking for a career combining tangible impact with strategy, analysis and policy research.  

The ideal candidate would have: 

  • Degree, preferably to Masters level. Our team have studied subjects as varied as management, engineering, urban planning, and theology. 
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to think logically and be methodical. 
  • Experience of working in a tight-knit team. 
  • Ability to use initiative but to know when to ask for help. 
  • Strong time management and organisational skills. 
  • IT proficiency, especially MS Office. 
  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn and to go that extra mile.
