Head of Transport Consulting

We are looking for an experienced consultant to lead our work in smart and sustainable transport.

 

Urban Foresight is a multidisciplinary consulting practice that has developed a unique niche in transport. We are globally recognised experts in electric mobility and innovative new mobility services. Our ambition is to become the go-to consultancy for decarbonising and transforming local transport systems.

You will be responsible for leading and growing this portfolio, with your passion and experience helping to deepen our expertise and scale our business.

This permanent role will be based in one of our offices (Newcastle or Dundee). Other locations may be considered for outstanding candidates.

The role

You will lead a talented team of consultants to win and deliver work for public and private sector clients. This includes a mixture of focussed consultancy assignments and longer-term innovation projects.

You will have expertise and interest in sustainable transport, innovation, new mobility services, and public policy.

As part of this role, you will:

• develop and implement a strategy to grow our market position in the transport sector
• take responsibility for managing the financial performance, quality of work, and contractual liabilities for our transport consulting group
• be responsible for the appraisal, performance, development, morale, and motivation of staff
• be a valuable member of Urban Foresight’s senior leadership team.

Skills and experience

We are keen to meet candidates from a range of backgrounds. You might be a:

• Transport consultant, planner, engineer, researcher, or economist
• Policy professional at a local/ regional/ national authority
• Strategy or innovation consultant
• Involved in delivering advanced/sustainable mobility services and solutions.

The ideal candidate would have:

• 10+ years of relevant sector experience
• experience of leading consultancy teams to win and deliver work
• experience of managing resources, budgets, and complex contracts
• a track record of successful business development and generating sustainable revenue streams
• experience of advising senior public and private sector clients
• extensive experience as a project director and senior project manager
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
