Innovation Hub for Sustainable Mobility and Low Carbon Energy

Urban Foresight has been commissioned to support the development of the £60 million Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc.

Urban Foresight’s track record of supporting the development of innovation hubs across the UK was recognised with a new commission from the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc.

Located on the site of the Michelin factory at Baldovie in Dundee, which will close in June 2020, the Innovation Parc is an ambitious £60 million joint venture between the global tyre manufacturer, Dundee City Council and Scottish Enterprise.

The Innovation Parc aims to deliver a world class innovation centre, driving global research while influencing and supporting breakthroughs in sustainable mobility and low carbon energy. The Innovation Hub will support collaboration and innovation between organisations to develop, test and commercialise new products and services for a sustainable, low carbon future.

Urban Foresight has been tasked to establish the requirements for a successful hub and to engage with businesses and innovators across the country to assess demand and wider commercial opportunities. This will allow detailed design of how the Hub will function including the facilities and services it should offer. It will also inform the physical layout, operational model and programme of activity for the Hub.

The project will benefit from Urban Foresight’s expertise in emerging technologies, industries and previous experience of supporting the development of innovation hubs in the Scottish Borders and in the London Borough of Havering.

Paul Blakeman, Head of Innovation at Urban Foresight said: “We are delighted to be supporting this flagship project. The Innovation Hub will be an essential component of the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc and will combine Dundee’s history of innovation and design with the cutting edge of sustainable mobility and a low carbon future.”

To ensure the Hub best meets the needs of innovators who could be potentially situated at the Parc, we are seeking input from businesses and organisations who would consider using the Innovation Hub in the future. If you are interesting in sharing your opinion, please complete this short survey.
