Innovative Mobility Solutions to Create a Better World

Urban Foresight was an invited guest of Michelin at its global sustainable mobility summit in Montreal this week.

For almost 20 years, the Michelin Challenge Bibendum has been the world’s main conference on mobility and its challenges. It stems from the global tyre manufacturing company’s belief that assembling scientists, entrepreneurs, visionaries, creatives and people from all walks of life will create the necessary energy to push the world forward.

Rebooted in 2017 as Movin’On, the event aimed to take a collaborative approach to tackle the challenges of mobility and create an engaged community of mobility actors.

Urban Foresight’s Managing Director, Dr. David Beeton was nominated as an expert partner by Michelin  and invited to take part in a number of high-level discussions and meetings over the course of the conference. This included supporting Michelin in facilitating a workshop on Smart City Development and participating in high-level roundtable on transport and air quality.

The three-day event took place between 13-15 June in Montreal’s Arsenal, a flagship industrial heritage building that has been transformed into a vast contemporary art gallery.

It brought together 4,000 participants from 31 countries to collectively tackle challenges and co-construct a plan to turn ideas into action.

“The event underlined that the real challenge isn’t to adapt, but to help create a better world by proposing innovative mobility solutions that benefit both the planet and the economy” said Dr Beeton. “This is very much aligned with Urban Foresight’s approach to smart mobility and we were delighted to have the opportunity to share our ideas and experiences with innovative companies and cities from around the world.”
