Representing the UK’s smartest city at global smart cities expo
Urban Foresight co-exhibits with Newcastle City Council at the Smart City Expo in Barcelona.
Following Newcastle’s recognition as the UK’s smartest city, Urban Foresight was invited to promote the city at the global Smart City Expo in Barcelona.
Our team shared the achievements of our unique smart city innovation partnership with Newcastle City Council. Our experience of delivering over 25 smart city projects provided practical examples of how to transform public services and infrastructure.
With the expo attracting over 21,000 attendees from 134 countries, it also gave opportunities to connect with clients from the UK and around the world.
Urban Foresight’s work to develop a national MaaS strategy for Ireland was showcased on the Smart Dublin stand. Invest Northern Ireland referenced our work to develop a €30 million strategy for Smart Towns and Villages.
We also met with clients from global NGOs and international development banks to discuss current projects to develop strategies and investment projects.
“As the world’s first and longest established smart cities consultancy, it was important for us to be at the expo” said Dr David Beeton, CEO of Urban Foresight. “Towns and cities around the world face many of the same challenges and we’re uniquely well placed to help. We have practical experience of solving these problems and delivering real benefits to local governments and communities.”
Urban Foresight was also invited to join the UK Department for International Trade’s Northern Power House Mission during the event. This provided opportunities to connect with emerging best practice and the latest developments in technology. Connections were made with local leaders, multinational corporates, and startups from across the globe.
