Gordon Hector

Head of Policy and Strategy

Gordon is a policy and strategy specialist. He leads our teams working on three broad themes: health and care, technology and smart cities, and urban design and placemaking.

This reflects a diverse career across public, private and third sectors. Before joining Urban Foresight he worked in the Scottish Parliament covering a mix of economic, environmental and public services legislation and policy development.

Before that he was a senior partner in an AIM-listed healthcare scale-up, managing communications with investors, staff, and government. He also worked as a speechwriter at the Department for Education, and for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, a social policy charity and provider of housing and care services.

He is passionate about understanding how places are shaped by public policy, the built environment, and interactions between government and the private sector.

Gordon has a first-class degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford.
