Active travel hub at the heart of Dundee’s waterfront

Securing funding and setting up Dundee's first cycle hub

DundeeCycleHub-1

Specialist support to create an active travel hub at the heart of Dundee's waterfront

Our work started with the original feasibility study for Dundee City Council, writing a successful grant application that secured £1.2 million of funding from Transport Scotland.

We were then commissioned to advise on the design of the hub, the operating model, and to procure a supplier to run the hub. This involved close working with the city council and local groups involved in promoting cycling and walking.

The hub is located in the heart of the city’s flagship waterfront development and integrated with key cycle routes across Dundee. It includes cycle hire, bike maintenance, facilities for community engagement and events, information on low carbon/active travel, cycle tours and routes.

The project aims to encourage active and sustainable travel amongst local people and visitors and raise awareness of low carbon transport. It supporting behaviour change, improved air quality, personal health and economic regeneration.
