How can space technology and satellite data be used to solve significant societal challenges?

Urban Foresight was commissioned to develop and deliver an open innovation programme to use space technology and satellite data to tackle significant societal challenges.

The open innovation programme was designed to have a demonstrable positive impact and achieve multiple beneficial outcomes.

The first of these was to accelerate business growth by helping to bring ideas, processes and products closer to market. This included forming new collaborations and the securing additional investment into the space and satellite technology sector in North East England.

Engaging businesses, inistitutions and the public sector in the programme also provided an opportunity to challenge existing cultures and mindsets that hinder collaborative approaches to innovation.

The programme was launched in 2017 and will run until 2020.
