Smart city strategy for Scotland’s seven cities

Smart Cities Scotland Blueprint

Glasgow

How can Scotland's cities work together to deploy smart city investments?

Urban Foresight was commissioned by the Scottish Cities Alliance, on behalf of the seven Scottish cities and the Scottish Government, to develop the UK’s first collaborative Smart City strategy and action plan.

The objective of the work was to engage with a wide range of stakeholders to map out existing activities and identify opportunities for cities to scale up their Smart City ambitions.

A key part of this work was to provide cities with the tools to resource and organise transformational changes. This included detailed mapping of resources that could be developed and shared across cities to support the procurement of innovation.

Our analysis involved interviews, workshops and desk research to establish the challenges and opportunities in procuring infrastructure and services related to smart cities.

We also undertook a detailed mapping of the different funding and financing mechanisms available at the local, national, UK and European levels.
