Helping Charnwood Achieve Carbon Neutrality

Urban Foresight is delighted to have been selected by Charnwood Borough Council to help it achieve carbon neutrality in its operations by 2030.

The project will see Urban Foresight working closely with stakeholders from across the Council, the wider public sector and from the community to prioritise a series of evidence based opportunities for the Borough Council to cut emissions in the near, medium and long term.

This includes working together with partners from DCA and Spring Environmental to measure the existing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions of the Council via detailed on-site audits, review its existing Carbon Management Plan 2015-20, and then develop a new Carbon Management Plan for 2020-30.

Graham Thrower, Head of Investment and Infrastructure at Urban Foresight said: “We recognise that enacting transformative change in the delivery of public services is no easy task and, using experience gained from our close city partnerships from across the UK, we will develop a framework to assist in the rollout of new lower carbon service delivery.”

Urban Foresight and Charnwood Borough Council also recognise the importance of taking the community along with you when embarking on these ambitious and stretching plans. For that reason, stakeholder engagement will feature prominently in our work over the coming months as we aim to give the Council an advocacy role acting as a catalyst for the wider community to achieve meaningful change.
