Dundee Waterfront Active Travel Hub: creating an inclusive means of travel for everyone

Making cycling an attractive and realistic option for short destination-driven trips can bring many benefits to health, the economy, and the environment.

However, inequalities in active travel options for young people and marginalised families can reduce the adoption of sustainable transport alternatives.

To tackle this problem, Urban Foresight will work with Angus Cycle Hub on a pilot project for a central bike distribution centre. This hub will support the Angus and Dundee areas with active transport facilities, community outreach, and more.

The project will tie into existing services and infrastructure already provided by Angus Cycle Hub. This will include the Active Travel Hub at the Waterfront in Dundee, with facilities including bike hire, cycle parking, bike maintenance, and community outreach.

The project will benefit from Urban Foresight’s deep experience of innovation hubs, sustainable mobility and accessibility. Specifically, we will support the overall management and evaluation of the project. Our goal is to deliver a genuinely impactful project and build a long-term sustainable future at the heart of the Dundee and Angus communities.

This award builds on recent high profile projects Urban Foresight has done in the Dundee and Angus areas. This includes the Angus Rural Mobility Hub, the 2020 Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan for Angus Council, and a feasibility study for a Green Travel Hub in Forfar.
