Dr Maddy Thompson

Principal Consultant

Maddy is a principal consultant whose expertise focuses on the intersection of digital technologies, health, labour, and the environment.

Maddy completed her PhD in Geography at Newcastle University (2019), funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. Her PhD examined the challenges and opportunities of a more global health provision, with a particular focus on the migration and digitisation of healthcare workforces in the Philippines.

Following this, she won funding from the Leverhulme Trust to develop work on digital health, engaging a diverse range of stakeholders to understand the place-based impacts of digital health.

She has also led, worked on, and supervised projects concerning sustainable energy, anti-microbial resistance, mental health, and urban development, working alongside key organisations such as Public Health England, the Royal Geographical Society, and Northern Gas Networks.
