Ciarán brings advanced capability in conducting high-quality in-depth desk-based analysis. His attention to detail and ability to synthesise multiple different types of evidence to develop novel insights, are essential in supporting projects. 

Before joining Urban Foresight, Ciarán worked as Communications Manager for a national bookseller. He was responsible for identifying and leveraging trends in markets and audiences to maximise communications reach and engagement. 

Ciarán’s draws on these skills to develop his expertise in understanding the role of culture and society in shaping places. He is passionate about sustainability, particularly within smaller communities looking for ways to regenerate, innovate, and improve sustainability in their towns and villages. 

He studied for a Masters in Mediaeval History at the University of St Andrews and his thesis focused on understanding the establishment of the Catholic church in early mediaeval Denmark. Ciarán adopted a novel and original angle, honing both qualitative and quantitative research skills to assess the role of the Danish crown in this process. He also developed a keen ability to navigate through multilingual sources, translating work from Danish and German.
